Posted by 3o5 | Posted in Share/Download, Technology | Posted on 23-06-2009

BeeJiveIM 3.0 with push notifications enabled is now available in the Apple App Store. While the application description has not yet been updated customers who have downloaded the iPhone app are reporting the update.

BeeJiveIM connects you to AIM/MobileMe, MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, Facebook, MySpace, ICQ, and Jabber… all at the same time.

In order to use the push notification feature you will need to be running the iPhone OS 3.0 firmware.

For a limited time the application is available at a cost of $9.99.

*Note: Unfortunately, after installing this update I receive a pin.mismatch error when attempting to log into any account. Not sure if this is an isolated incident or a bug in the update.

*Update: To fix this error remove BeeJiveIM from the iPhone. Then do a sync with BeeJiveIM manually deselected from the application sync list. Then do a second sync with BeeJiveIM reselected. You will need to reenter your account info once the application is reinstalled.

iPhone Dev-Team Releases PwnageTool 3.0 Jailbreak for Mac

1

Posted by 3o5 | Posted in Technology | Posted on 19-06-2009

iphone_pirate_2

The iPhone Dev-Team has released the PwnageTool 3.0 jailbreak tool for Mac. QuickPwn for Mac and Windows will follow soon.

—-
1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use PwnageTool right now. UltraSn0w is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be release via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 unlock works with this PwnageTool release.

2. Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you can get it via Cydia or Icy).

3. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.

4. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.

5. At the bottom of this post are the bittorrent files for the 3.0 capable version of PwnageTool.

6. This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release.

7. PwnageTool will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.

8. PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.

Currently only the first iPod touch is supported at this time…

We will be posting a tutorial on how to use this tool very shortly. Please stay tuned!

List of Hidden iPhone 3.0 Features

0

Posted by 3o5 | Posted in Share/Download, Technology | Posted on 18-06-2009

MacRumors forum user bndoarn has organized a massive list of hidden 3.0 features. The list is over 96 individual features so far. Some are more significant than others, of course. Here are a few interesting highlights:

- There is no limit to the number of apps that can be installed (beside storage space). Once you reach the home screen limit, Apps installed after that are installed without an icon but can be accessed in Spotlight. You can also use this to hide any apple application (i.e. weather and stocks)
- In the Settings -> General -> Home Button you can now set the double click to the new search feature or the camera
- Notes now has data detectors. Links are clickable, phone numbers are callable, email address are emailable, and address are locatable (using Maps)
- When a phone call interrupts you, after the phone call you are taken back to the app you were in before you were interrupted
- You can now have 11 home screen pages instead of nine
- Now there is a different way to force quit apps. now you have to hold the sleep/wake button until the red slider appears, then you press and hold down the home button to quit the app

The first on the list is perhaps most notable, allowing you to use Spotlight as an application launcher to avoid swiping through pages and pages of apps and also installing more than the allotted number.

iPhone OS 3.0 Hints at New Unknown Device

0

Posted by 3o5 | Posted in Technology | Posted on 19-03-2009

After already enabling tethering on his iPhone developer Steven Troughton-Smith has found references to a new product in the iPhone 3.0 firmware.

The file, /System/Library/AppleUSBDevice/USBDeviceConfiguration.plist, lists USB configuration details about various iPhone and iPod touch models. Currently released devices listed are the iPhone1,1; iPhone1,2; iPod1,1; and iPod2,1.

Steven has found references to four unreleased devices the iPhone 2,1; iPhone3,1; iPod3,1; iFPGA; and iProd0,1. All of the products are assigned unique productID numbers but have a productString of iPhone.

ArsTechnica suggests that the iPhone3,1 and iPod3,1 are clearly references to next-gen hardware version of those products (perhaps Apple is skipping iPhone2,1?). Smith suggests that the iFPGA could be a prototype device that uses field-programmable gate arrays, a type of programmable microchip. It doesn’t conform to the standard numbering scheme that Apple uses for its hardware products, so it isn’t likely something intended to be released. The “iProd,” on the other hand, uses a 0,1 number, suggesting it is a prototype of an as-yet unreleased device that is neither an iPhone nor an iPod touch.

Could iProd be the rumored 10″ touchscreen?

Steven Troughton-Smith a twenty-year-old independent iPhone developer has managed to enabled USB tethering on his iPhone using OS 3.0.

Tethering must have come after I uploaded my custom Carrier Settings file. Awesome!

Haha even the Apple employees are jealous on seeing me with tethering enabled. :-D

I have no idea how I did it. Sorry! I was hacking around with APNs in the Carrier.bundle itcc file

Tethering is enabled using a simple on and off switch. The screenshots below show that you can connect with USB or Bluetooth but Steven has yet to get Bluetooth working.
